The BG News, long the platform for students to put into practice the journalism skills they learn at the University, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020. The News may have changed over the years with a greater emphasis today on digital delivery, but The News is still the proving ground for student journalists to develop life-long leadership, critical thinking, writing and reporting skills.
The BG News Alumni Society is leading the efforts to not only celebrate the centennial milestone of The News, but raise additional funds to insure a quality learning environment for today’s students. The society recently launched its “100 for 100” campaign, encouraging alumni to donate $100 to The BG News Fund in celebration of our 100-year anniversary. If you haven’t yet participated, or would like to repeat your gift, now is the perfect opportunity is to do so during this year’s day of giving at BGSU.
For those alumni who knew the late Terry Goodman, you also have the opportunity to support the Terry Goodman Memorial Journalism Scholarship. It was founded by The News’ alumni society in memory of Terry and provides a scholarship for a continuing student staff member as well as an incoming freshman interested in journalism, and especially pursuing sports journalism with The BG News.
If you would like to make a gift to a fund not listed on the BGSU One Day website, you can do so here.
