College of Health and Human Services

Our students are entering a variety of health and human services professions and are driven to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.

By supporting the College of Health and Human Services, you make it possible for us to attract and retain a high-achieving, diverse student body. Your support also defrays tuition costs for deserving students studying criminal justice, food and nutrition, gerontology, long-term care administration, health services administration, medical laboratory sciences, nursing, public health, social work, speech-language pathology and pre-professional degrees in allied health.

Thank you for supporting these important College initiatives. Your commitment demonstrates the immeasurable value of a BGSU education. Together, we can accomplish more.

Public Health

Public Health has shown to be a tremendously vital career during the pandemic that has devastated the globe for more than a year. A gift to the public health fund supports the greatest needs of the program, from professional development opportunities, to lab equipment, to experiential learning opportunities and more.

HHS GAP Scholarship

This scholarship, originally funded by the College of Health and Human Services’ Leadership Council, provides annual gap scholarships, typically between $500 and $1,000, to students in need. When facing a financial hardship, like the loss of a part-time job during the pandemic or parents' financial support, this extra gap funding can often be the deciding factor that allows students the opportunity to complete their degree.

Nursing Foundation Scholarship

To better meet the demand for nurses nationwide and the academic aspirations of our students, this fund provides general support to students with the greatest need in the nursing program. BGSU launched a School of Nursing in 2020 to support the growth of the University’s online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN completion program) and now has expanded its offerings to a stand-alone BSN program.

Criminal Justice Program

This fund provides general support to students, faculty and staff in our nationally-ranked criminal justice program. With the recent addition of the forensic investigations specialization, your support provides students with high-quality, realistic simulations and applied research opportunities in investigations and related criminal justice activities.

Diversity and Inclusion

This fund will support student activities related to the college’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. In particular, assistance will be given to students who work with the college’s diversity fellow.

Speech and Hearing Clinic

The Speech and Hearing Clinic offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic speech, language and hearing services. It is open to the public and serves all ages, providing an important community service as well as serving as an educational facility for master's and doctoral-level speech-language pathologists. This fund supports the operational needs of the Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Dietetics/Food and Nutrition Science

The dietetics, food and nutrition field has become increasingly important in providing health and wellness for all ages, from infants to older adults. Support of this program provides critical opportunities to help prepare these students for successful careers in caring for these populations.
