BGSU Athletics sponsors 18 sports — seven men’s and 11 women’s — which compete for championships in the Mid-American Conference and, starting in the fall of 2021, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Our teams strive to win in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
BGSU Athletics has a strong championship tradition, but we are equally proud of our student-athletes’ accomplishments in the classroom. In 2019, the Falcons ranked first in the MAC for graduation success rate and this was coupled with a 3.356 cumulative GPA — the highest in school history.

Falcon Club Scholarship and Success Fund
The Falcon Club Scholarship and Success Fund was created to provide the best possible athletic and academic opportunities for our 400+ student-athletes. It is, quite simply, the top priority for BGSU Athletics, as it provides the resources to offer athletic scholarships. When you invest in the Falcon Club Scholarship and Success Fund, you are helping us to create a championship future and continue the tradition of academic and athletic excellence for Falcon Athletics.
Student-Athlete Welfare
Student-athletes have additional pressures to maintain their classwork and grades on top of practice and games, which may manifest as stress, eating disorders, burnout, or depression and anxiety. Supporting the Student-Athlete Welfare initiative will create opportunities for the Athletic Department to provide additional counseling and services geared to fit within our student-athletes’ schedules. Gifts to this initiative will be used to supplement the programs and hours available for mental health and wellness counselors to support our Falcon student-athletes.
Sports Medicine Technology
Technology in sport continues to evolve at a rapid pace. BGSU’s Department of Athletics seeks to provide the best medical and training services and facilities for our 400+ student-athletes. Gifts to support the sports medicine technology initiative will be used to add, update and upgrade our current equipment, to include:
- Modular Therapy System: $4,300
- Hypervolt Massage Guns: $350 each
- Muscle Stim Machine: $250 each
- Iceman Cold Therapy Systems: $130 each
- Muscle Stim Pads: $50 each
Baseball Operations Support Fund
In May 2020, financial challenges led BGSU to make the difficult decision to eliminate the baseball program. In response, a passionate group of baseball alumni, fans and parents stepped forward and made commitments to continue the baseball program for three years, through the 2023 season. Your gift to the Baseball Operations Support Fund will help achieve the three-year fundraising goal to reach $1.5 million. We encourage you to join this effort and make a recurring gift today.
