College of Education and Human Development

From the first-generation college student who wants to lead a higher education team, to a sport management major preparing for that intimidating professional interview, your generosity can help BGSU’s College of Education and Human Development students go far – in college now and in communities later.

Your investment supports vital opportunities for our students, from academic experiences to internships, providing them with the skills they need to become highly qualified professionals in their fields.

Dr. Don Bright Student Support Fund

The Dr. Don E. Bright Student Support Fund provides educational and professional development opportunities to students in the workforce education and development business and marketing specialization. This support includes workshops, research, projects, and travel to trainings and conferences, among others.

Dr. Michael Coomes Scholarship

This scholarship supports students in the college student personnel program within the Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs. It is named after Dr. Michael Coomes in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the program and field.

Educational Foundations, Leadership and Policy Studies

Help prepare tomorrow’s education, nonprofit, international and cross-cultural leaders. This fund supports program goals to prepare for leadership roles; formulate and implement educational policies; and improve learning and understanding in all levels of educational institutions, agencies and organizations.

Student Professional Development Fund

The Student Professional Development Fund aids students in the College of Education and Human Development who are completing an internship, student teaching or other classroom-related experience off campus by providing them with a small gas card to help with what can be a significant expense. Students who commute at least 20 miles one way are the recipients of the gas cards.

EDHD Scholarship Fund

Gifts to the EDHD Scholarship Fund support a broad spectrum of students within the college, including 28 teacher preparation programs leading to Ohio licensure, eight human development programs and 10 minors.

Developing Connections Conference

The annual Developing Connections Conference allows human development and family studies students to gain real-life experience by interacting with agencies through poster presentations, on-site internship interviews and professional networking opportunities. Gifts to this fund will allow for expansion of this program and prepare students for lifelong career growth and success.

The Expedition Fund

This fund provides scholarships for EDHD students studying abroad at both the undergraduate and graduate level and has impacted many students over the years. The opportunity to experience other cultures plays a critical role in students’ development as global citizens. For many students, these experiences are not possible without support from donations to this fund.

Sport Management

As one of the country’s most storied and recognized sport management programs, gifts to this fund will support professional development opportunities for students completing practicums and internships in the sport industry.

Willie "Yo" & Dr. Pamela Cross Young Scholarship

A scholarship provided to a student who demonstrates their belief in the importance of education, helping others and in appreciation to Bowling Green State University.
