Support the legacy of a chemistry difference-maker
Dr. Thomas Kinstle, professor emeritus of chemistry, is one of those faculty members whose work made a difference for hundreds of students every year. He devoted his 40-year faculty career to training students in chemistry, including more than 50 master’s and doctoral students. Many of his students could tell he loved to teach, and knew him as “tough, but one of the best teachers anyone could ask for.” In 2006, he was recognized by the American Chemical Society as one of the best chemistry teachers who goes “the extra mile in encouraging their students to achieve.”
To honor the many and substantial contributions of Dr. Kinstle and his commitment to students, a professorship in his name is being established within the Department of Chemistry and the Center for Photochemical Sciences at BGSU. Since its founding in 1985, the Center has continued to advance basic and applied research areas, from energy to polymers and coatings to nano- and bio-materials through an interdisciplinary approach that cuts across the sciences.
During BGSU One Day, your support of the Thomas Kinstle Professorship will be matched dollar for dollar to help the university to attract emerging scholars who will contribute to the international reputation of the center and continue Dr. Kinstle’s legacy of teaching excellence.
