Through classes and field training at Bowling Green State University, Army ROTC provides students with the tools to become an Army Officer without interfering with classes. Students combine classroom time with hands-on experiences and learn leadership and management skills, preparing them with the tools, training and experiences that will help students succeed in any competitive environment.
Students can take Army ROTC as an elective during their freshman and sophomore years without incurring any obligation to serve in the military. If a student decides that they are up to the challenge of leading in the world's best armed forces, they continue on to the advanced courses of Army ROTC while completing their BGSU degree. Students in Army ROTC will have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but at graduation are commissioned as a second lieutenant to serve on active duty or with the Army Reserves or National Guard.
