BGSU Gymnastics Club

Bowling Green State University Gymnastics Club will use the money raised towards Flippin Funds! We have a variety of expenses covered by Flippin Funds, including practice fees, leotards, warm-up apparel, and competition fees. We pay to practice at the YMCA Gymnastics Center in Perrysburg, Ohio: we practice three days a week and host a home competition. This year, we hosted NAIGC Mideast Regionals and had 17 teams compete from the University of Kentucky, the University of Michigan, Indiana University, and many others. This year as a team, we traveled to Purdue and Ohio State; and athletes placed on the podium at every competition! At the beginning of the competition season, we purchased new leotards that are in the team picture. Finally, the biggest event of all, we travel to a National competition: this year it takes place in Memphis, Tennessee. Our club provides numerous opportunities for students of all genders to continue their athletic careers whether it be practicing in Ohio or competing across the country.

Megan Wagenblast, a third-year participant in the club, says “Club gymnastics has created amazing friendships and relationships that have lasted throughout my college experience. The bond we create with each other while messing around in the gym and learning to do crazy flips is something that is unique to the club. Getting to go to the gym after a long day of classes with a whole new group of people is an amazing experience. Club gymnastics helps us create a sense of community at BGSU and bond to the sport that I have loved since I was a kid”.

May Gulley, the current president of the club, shared “This club created a new love for a sport I gave up on years ago. It allows me to be active while bonding with my friends, and my favorite thing of all, travel the country. I am excited to finish out the current competitive season”!
