Diversity Initiatives

Respect for one another is one of BGSU’s core values, and this includes fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. Everyone at BGSU is responsible for building the University's future and creating a positive campus climate.

Programs within the departments of Multicultural Affairs and the Women’s Center that reflect this mission are TRIO, Project Search and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center. Your gift to these programs allows BGSU to provide diverse education for students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community.

The Not In Our Town initiative advances the mission of guiding, supporting and inspiring people and communities to stop hate and build safe, inclusive environments for all. Your donation to the Not In Our Town Support Fund supports these goals and ideals.

BGSU is committed to expanding intercultural communication and shared understanding and we believe that the exchange of ideas, cultural perceptions and political and social attitudes can improve the quality of life for all students. The International Students Fund supports scholarships for international students and allow international students who choose BGSU to discover a welcoming community that challenges and supports students from all over the world.

In addition, there are many ways to impact diversity at BGSU. Here are a few ideas:

  • Multicultural Affairs Scholarship: Provides scholarship support for minority students.
  • Not In Our Town: Enhances programs to support diversity initiatives on-campus and in partnership with the local community for students, faculty and staff. Not In Our Town's mission is to guide, support and inspire people and communities to work together to stop hate and build a safe, inclusive environment for all.
  • BGSU Vision/LGBTQ+ Resource Center: Supports the LGBTQ+ student organization "Vision," and enhances programming at the LGBTQ+ Resource Center on campus.
  • Women's Center: Provides increase programming and operational support for the Women's Center on campus.
  • TRIO Success: Assists TRIO program office in its educational outreach and academic enrichment programs designed to motivate and assist students to enter and succeed in higher education. The target population for TRIO programs are first-generation students who come from families with limited income.
