Code4Her

Help inspire the next generation of women in computing by making a gift to Code4Her, a new computer science mentorship program by the BGSU Department of Computer Science and the BG Women in Computing student organization.

This special initiative, which started in January for girls in grades 5 through 8, introduces them to computer programming through exploration of Lego EV3 Mindstorms robots. Funds from a Google igniteCS grant and a private donor affiliated with the department provided the basics for the pilot project. Now, because the demand is high, another session is planned for fall. Additional support is needed to continue this beneficial program that provides BGSU computer science students a valuable experience working as mentors with young girls, and provides hands-on opportunities for the young girls to learn about programming.
