The Richard A. Maxwell Sport Media Project is a hub for teaching, research, and service related to sport media. The Project benefits students and faculty at Bowling Green State University, and offers outreach and media consulting to area and regional groups that work with student-athletes.
The Maxwell Project has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Richard A. "Dick" Maxwell, a 1970 graduate of BGSU who went on to a successful career in the sport communication industry. He worked in public relations for the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before moving into the NFL Commissioner's Office in 1978. After 36 years in professional football, he retired as senior director of broadcasting in 2006.
To continue building on the success of the Maxwell Project, donations are needed to upgrade the academic space utilized by students and faculty to hone their craft. Upgrades to the space will allow for expansion of the Maxwell Project and continue to build the strong reputation of the sport management program at BGSU, known for producing highly successful alumni in areas such as sport licensing, sport marketing and sport business.
