Since 1964, WBGU-TV has provided programs and services that educate, entertain and engage the local community while supporting the mission of BGSU. WBGU-TV, a PBS affiliate, serves a 19-county area with a population of 2.3 million encompassing northwest and west central Ohio, and portions of Indiana and Michigan.
Each year, more than 70 BGSU students work at the station as employees, interns or co-ops where they are given the opportunity for hands-on learning in a professional, nurturing environment. Students learn all aspects of television production and broadcast including concept development, script writing, videography, directing and editing. Students work on various productions including those featuring sports, news, travel or the arts as well as promotional efforts for the station. Upon graduation, students have a portfolio of demonstrable video clips to present to potential employers.
Your gifts on #BGSUOneDay support the station that’s helped thousands of students become television broadcast professionals, all while offering quality television to the local community. All donations go to the Student Experience Fund or Local Production Fund - both are extremely important. The Student Experience Fund helps BGSU students gain real-life, hands-on experience in a working television station. The Local Production Fund provides the funding needed to continue WBGU-TV’s 50+ year history of producing outstanding local programming and documentaries.
Today, you can make a difference in the lives of BGSU students and show your support of public television. WBGU-TV students and viewers appreciate your generosity!
