BGSU Fencing Club

The Bowling Green Fencing Club was created in 1945 as a co-educational club team and was then re-established as a student organization in 1992. The club team was created in 2003 to compete in the Midwestern Fencing Conference against schools such as the University of Toledo, The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, Notre Dame University, and many others. Individual members can also compete in the United States Fencing Association with the help of club resources. Our primary mission is to promote the sport of fencing in northwest Ohio. In doing so we hope to promote personal growth, leadership, and provide the best available resources to help our members reach their goals. We strive to help our members obtain these goals in a safe, accessible environment focused on building enduring traditions and creating new friendships.

This season we accomplished our primary mission by introducing several freshmen students to the sport of Fencing, advocating for youth literacy and safe sports with Allen East Elementary in Harrod Ohio, and participating in tournaments at the University of Michigan, Xavier University, and the University of Miami.

With your help we hope to raise funds to purchase new equipment and replace our aging supply of protective uniforms, and tournament legal blades. This equipment is essential to our participation in Midwest Fencing Conference tournaments and guarantees our ability to continue educating BGSU students and students across Northwest Ohio about this wonderful sport.
