The Department of Geology in the College of Arts and Sciences provides solid educational and experiential opportunities that help open doors for students pursuing careers in a rapidly changing high-tech industry or extending their education in graduate school. The department wishes to expand its ability to recruit bright, talented students, and is raising funds in the name of longtime faculty Dr. Charles F. Kahle to directly benefit student research.
Charles F. Kahle, a professor emeritus of geology, was internationally recognized for his expertise about rock formations of the Maumee River. In addition to his knowledge, Dr. Kahle was known for his teaching style and skills. His lively classroom style and his ability to bring geology to life through multi-colored, blackboard diagrams made him a student favorite, and the winner of the Master Teacher Award in 1994.
Earlier this year, a former student established a fund to honor the memory of the geology professor who made a difference for him. As part of #BGSUOneDay, the goal is to bring this fund to endowment level, and provide geology research funding to deserving graduate students every year.
