As BGSU’s oldest competitive team, the Falcon Forensics Speech and Debate Team has a 100-year history of success. Participants in this co-curricular educational team develop a unique set of research and organizational skills, which enable them to express and defend ideas eloquently in competition and in their daily lives. According to former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, students involved in debate are “uniquely suited” to build skills required of a modern citizen, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity.
Participation in forensics involves extensive weekly coaching and rehearsal, and competitions nearly every weekend. There is little time for outside employment. To continue this century-long tradition of excellence, scholarships are a necessary tool to ensure the students are financially able to devote significant time and dedication to the team activities.
#BGSUOneDay is your opportunity to show that you value the mission of the Falcon Forensics Speech and Debate Team and want to see the success continue. If you participated in the debate team or a similar skill-enhancing team, you understand how important it is to support this organization. Gifts of any amount will directly benefit our students through scholarships, and thereby enhance the team’s ability to recruit and compete.
